The Giving Tree

Some of the seventh grade students heard The Giving Tree ( by Shel Silverstein) read aloud as an introduction to their case study.  This is a children's book about a tree who plays with a little boy. As the boy grows older he takes from the tree without giving back. In the story whenever the boy is happy the tree is happy. The students used meaningful words to create a wordle (see picture). If you haven't read it in a while, or never at all, read it, and I'm sure you will enjoy it!

Food Drive for Food Bank

Sutherland is collecting food for the Food Bank! Please bring in canned food to drop in the large cans outside each grade level wing. We will be collecting food until March 4. Remember that Spirit Week is coming up! Here is the schedule: Monday : Crazy Hair Day Tuesday : Jersey Day Wednesday : Hippie Day Thursday : Black Out Day There will be a pep rally on that Thursday, the 30th. Remember that Friday is off!

7th Grade Cell Analogy Projects

Students in 7th grade science have finished working on their cell analogy projects.  They had the choice of 5 different projects or the option to create their own project.  The students were very creative in developing all different types of projects including a rap music video, a Mine Craft map, a play mobile airport, movie of a One Direction concert, and a cell game.  Here are just some of the projects created by the students.
